ForKids and the United Way of South Hampton Roads have teamed up to implement short-term case management and resource navigation to assist households experiencing delays or interruptions in federal services and income support. Our teams are focused on stabilizing immediate needs, providing referrals, and working collaboratively to reduce barriers to access.

Individuals seeking assistance should contact the ForKids Housing Crisis Hotline at (757) 587-4202 or visit resources757.org to complete an application. Once submitted, United Way’s Program Eligibility Specialist will assign cases for those directly affected by the shutdown.

We do have limited funds available to help during this current crisis. While the duration of the shutdown remains uncertain, we are committed to staying responsive to our community’s needs.

Hampton Roads is home to more than 60,000 federal civilian workers. Many are now facing delayed paychecks and are unable to pay for food, housing, and utilities. Social service networks already are stretched thin.

United Way of South Hampton Roads and ForKids are working together to provide immediate support, coordinate resources, and avoid duplication of services—so every effort reaches the people who need it most. But we can’t do it alone.
