Partner Spotlight: Manna Ministry of Tidewater

What began as a one-day food drive for six families has grown into a mission rooted in a simple idea: say yes and meet the need. Today, Manna Ministry of Tidewater delivers food and household essentials to neighbors across Hampton Roads, reaching families who may otherwise go without.

As the organization grew, so did the need to ensure resources were reaching the right households. Through its partnership with the Housing Crisis Hotline, Manna Ministry now receives pre-screened referrals, allowing the team to focus less on intake and more on serving families directly.

“We want to be good stewards of what’s been entrusted to us,” said Nick Masella, Director of Operations. “This partnership helps ensure our services are going to the people who need them most.”

The partnership came together naturally, in part through Katelyn Howard, Intake and Care Coordinator, whose experience with both organizations helped bridge the connection. (Katelyn is a former ForKids team member!)

“It’s about so much more than ‘just’ food,” Nick said. “It’s about fulfilling our mission and connecting with our community. It’s about showing up for families and being part of something bigger than any one organization.”
