Beyond the Bell Middle Schoolers: ‘Be the Change’ for Our Furry Friends

ForKids’ Beyond the Bell middle schoolers recently have been busy putting their motto, “Be the Change,” into action!
“Last October, our students kicked off a tradition of creating chew toys for the Chesapeake Humane Society, focusing on dogs,” said Michelle Dandy, ForKids’ Education Coordinator-Middle School. “This year, they expanded their creativity to include cats, and the results were incredible.”
In fact, the students’ handmade toys filled four Trader Joe’s bags.
“For a second year in a row, our students delivered their creations and enjoyed a tour of the facility,” Dandy added. “It was a joyful day of giving, learning, and seeing the impact of their hard work firsthand.”
At ForKids, these projects are more than just fun. Such community-focused initiatives also help teach students that positive change starts with action and that even small hands can make a big difference.
“We’re so proud of our middle schoolers for living out the Be The Change spirit in their community,” Dandy said. “Keep growing, creating, and spreading kindness, one toy at a time!”
